The Plitvice forest which surrounds the lakes is a complex of preserved natural forests of beech and fir accompanied by other species of trees and shrubs It regulates climatic conditions and provides a habitat for many plant and animal species In the lakes river courses and forests we have presented these species through the seasons The coexistence of the people of this region and nature is a laborious sharing and cultivation by the diligent hands of resilient people
