Kroll was the regular referee at major events at Madison Square Garden, including the first WrestleMania in 1985. But beyond being a constant presence, Kroll officiated in crucial matches such as the historic loss of Bruno Sammartino to Ivan Koloff in 1971, a moment that changed the history of wrestling. One of the most memorable moments of his career occurred when he was accidentally hit by Blackjack Mulligan during a match with Pedro Morales.
